Company

Zakład Wytwarzania Związków Organicznych (Organic Compounds Production Plant) was founded in 1980 by a chemist, Bogdan Sołtysiak. In the beginning the plant mainly produced soap and soap flakes, but soon it was planning to expand its range of activities by other cleaning products.
The owner of the plant, while searching for new production technologies and quality improvement methods, came across the work by Dr Aleksandra Minorska on the use of lecithin powder as an additive for cleaning and cosmetic products. After the research into the usefulness of lecithin for his production, Mr Sołtysiak decided to purchase the patent for the “Method of Obtaining Lecithin Powder.”
On September 17, 1984 the agreement between the Organic Compounds Production Plant (represented by Bogdan Sołtysiak) and Industrial Chemistry Institute in Warsaw was signed. The subject of the agreement was the implementation of the method of lecithin powder production in Mr Sołtysiak’s plant.
After the introduction of lecithin powder production, the owner ceased to produce the cleaning products and focused on the production of lecithin, and on the development and modernization of the methods of its production.
In the 1990s, while seeking new potentialities to use lecithin, a dissertation on the suitability of its use in bakery and confectionery was found.
On July 14, 1993 the name of the Organic Compounds Production Plant was changed to Lecithin Powder Production Plant (Zakład Produkcji Lecytyny Proszkowej).
In search of new solutions the company bought in 1997 a spray-dryer for the production of spray-dried lecithin powder. In 2000, the company changed its name to Przedsiębiorstwo Produkcyjno-Handlowo-Usługowe SOMAR (Manufacturing and Service Company SOMAR). The owner of the company retired, leaving his son, Mariusz Sołtysiak, in charge of the company. In the following years, the next two spray-dryers were bought, and the company expanded its range of products by various types of lecithin, as well as other spray-dried products.
